On Tuesday 11th June 2024, you’re invited to The Laura Centre’s training day – The Needs Of Bereaved Children.

This one-day course provides a comprehensive guide to understanding the needs of bereaved children and how to support them. It is hosted by Lisa Patel, the designated Safeguarding Lead for The Laura Centre, and Sandip Binning, the CEO of The Laura Centre.

Lisa and Sandip have a combined 25 years of experience in bereavement therapy. They are trained in person centred therapy, psychodynamic therapy, analytic therapy and trauma informed therapy. At The Laura Centre, they provide counselling for bereaved children, young people and families every day.

  • An overview of bereavement theories, the ages and stages of bereavement and how they relate to children.
  • An overview of the different types of grief and the impact on a child’s development.
  • An overview of complicated grief and anticipated grief.
  • An understanding of how to support a bereaved family and how to engage parents in supporting a child.
