Harry Moore recognised with an MBE

7th January 2021

Our founder Dr. Harold Moore, knows as Harry, founded The Laura Centre with his wife Gail in 1991 after the couple tragically lost their daughter Laura to leukaemia in 1989. The Laura Centre offers support to parents who have lost a child and children who have lost a parent.

Harry and Gail also founded the charity COPE to build a children’s cancer unit at the Leicester Royal Infirmary and Rainbows Children’s Hospice which is still the only one dedicated to treating children across the East Midlands.

Harry Moore also wrote of his experiences in one of his books A Lark Ascending.

His MBE is for services to Young People and to Charity in Leicester.

Our hearty congratulations to Harry and Gail and all of the members of the Moore family who have been so supportive of us and other charitable organisations.
